Kim Kardashian to divorce after 72 days of marriage

It is a fairly common story: a man and a woman become engaged and begin planning their wedding. On the way, they realize that they may not be well-suited for one another or for marriage, and contemplate calling off the wedding. However, depending on the remaining time before the wedding, the amount of money spent, and the expectations of family members and friends, they feel that they have no choice but to get married. But soon after the wedding, they file for divorce, unable to make their marriage work.

That may be what happened to Kim Kardashian, who recently filed for divorce from Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage. While the tale may be a common one, there are a few things that make this story unique: the fact that the couple’s lavish wedding was featured on a two-part television special, which aired just weeks before the divorce filing.

Now, Kardashian and Humphries must go about the business of dividing their relative fortunes. The couple most likely had a prenuptial agreement that will ensure each maintains the assets they brought to the marriage. However, it remains to be seen whether the money they received for televising their wedding was included in their prenup.

Despite the prevalent theory that the wedding was a fabricated stunt for reality television, the Kardashian family has insisted that the marriage was real. As such, it is unlikely that the divorce will have a significant effect on the Kardashian brand and profitability. There is no such thing as bad publicity, as the saying goes, and so the split from Humphries may actually make Kim Kardashian more popular and profitable.
