Divorce is the end, and also the beginning

There are two ways you can look at a divorce. On the one hand, you can look at it as “the end.” It is, in a very literal way, the end of a marriage. After a divorce is complete, your relationship with your ex-spouse is formally and legally terminated. But on the other hand, a divorce is also the beginning. It allows you to move on from this chapter in your life — one that you (or both you and your spouse) deemed to be unsatisfactory — and start something new with your life.

Maybe you find “the one” soon after your divorce, giving new meaning to your life. Maybe you take up a new activity or start working on something you haven’t tried in a long time, enriching your life and giving it a whole sense of “new.”

It’s all about your perspective when it comes to divorce. If you see it as a tragic “end,” then it inherently is going to carry a negative connotation. But if you see it as a positive change in your life (in addition to possibly being a necessary one), then it opens up the possibility of having a positive outlook on your life in the wake of the divorce.

As always, if you are going through a divorce or if you are considering one, you need to be legally supported during this time. Consult with a family law attorney and make sure that your case is being handled as efficiently and effectively as possible.
