Katherine L. Provost

Attorney at Law / Partner

Katherine L. Provost is a Partner with the Las Vegas law firm Kainen Law Group, PLLC, and has practiced exclusively in family law since 2004.  Katherine is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a Nevada Board Certified Specialist in Family Law.  She has been repeatedly appointed as a Pro Tem Hearing Master in the 8th Judicial District Court and is a former Chair of the State Bar of Nevada Family Law Section and the Nevada Board of Certified Family Law Specialists.

Katherine’s litigation practice focuses on high asset divorce, military divorce, and contested child custody cases.  In addition, Katherine is one of only a small handful of Nevada attorneys experienced in the preparation of contracts for assisted reproduction, surrogacy, adoption and parentage matters.  Katherine has also been trained to resolve legal disputes through collaborative practice when the right case presents itself.

Katherine views each client as an individual with a unique situation and both short term and long term goals.  She utilizes her experience to quickly size up a case and remains focused on the resolution of a matter at all times, whether that resolution comes through litigation or settlement.

Katherine is a member of Clark County Bar Association; the Nevada State Bar Family Law and LGBT Sections; and the Nevada Justice Association.  Additionally, Katherine participates with the American Bar Association Family Law Section Assisted Reproductive Technologies Committee (“ART”).  She was a  speaker at the Fall 2017 ABA Family Law Section ART Conference in Beaver Creek, Colorado and has taught numerous continuing legal education programs on various family law topics throughout her career.  In 2013, Katherine authored the chapter on Military Divorce for the Nevada Family Practice Manual, a publication for which she served as co-editor in 2008.  Katherine supports RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association and participates as an unpaid lobbyist on family law issues during biennial sessions of the Nevada Legislature.  She has been repeatedly honored as a Mountain States “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine.

Originally from New Jersey, Katherine received her  undergraduate degree from Montclair State University, cum laude and her Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.  She relocated to Nevada in 2001, and enjoys life as an adopted Nevadan with a wide base of friends and colleagues both in Southern and Northern Nevada.  Katherine is married and has two children.
