Las Vegas singer arrested for unpaid child support

A Las Vegas singer who hit the top of the Billboard popular music chart more than 20 years ago has been arrested and charged with unpaid child support. According to the arrest documents, the singer owed more than $400,000 in child support for two of his seven children.

Steven Bernard Hill, better known as Stevie B, has been accused of owing $420,000 to the mother of two daughters, ages 17 and 18. Stevie B has denied owing that amount, claiming that there is an “enormous discrepancy” between what he believes he owes and what the mother is claiming he owes.

Stevie B is best known for his 1990 hit “Because I Love You (The Postman Song),” which went to the top of the Billboard chart that year. He has not had similar success since, but has continued to make a living as a singer. In fact, he was arrested during a concert in Massachusetts.

He has since been released from jail after agreeing to a payment schedule for the $420,000 in alleged child support arrears. Under the terms of that agreement, he made a lump sum payment of $11,000, and will make weekly payments of $921, plus an extra $500 per week as a “gesture of good will,” according to his family law attorney.

Stevie B currently lives in Las Vegas with his wife of 20 years and the couple’s three children. In addition to the two daughters at issue in his arrest, he has two other children from his first marriage.
